Dr. Dustin Pascal is a lifelong New Jersey resident. He earned a psychology degree from the University at Buffalo, then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing his clinical year at LSU during their championship run. He has a rescued dog, Shadow. In his free time, he enjoys basketball, volleyball, golf, the gym, and video games. He roots for the Giants and Nets and loves Marvel, Game of Thrones, and sitcoms.

Veterinarian

Dr. Mindy Feldman has lived at the Jersey Shore since 2006. She graduated from Cook College, Rutgers, in 1992 and Cornell Veterinary School in 1996. She joined Coastal Veterinary in 2017. In her free time, she (loosely) enjoys rooting for the Mets, Devils, Giants, and Jets. A Sci-Fi buff, she loves Dr. Who, Harry Potter, and Star Wars - even the prequels over The Last Jedi. She lives with her dog Mork, her cat Scrabbles, and a 40-gallon freshwater aquarium.

Dr. Fritz McHugh grew up in Seaside Park and has also lived in California and North Carolina. He earned a business degree from Syracuse University before pursuing his dream of becoming a Veterinarian. He graduated from NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine and opened Coastal Veterinary in NJ. He and his wife Amy, the Practice Manager, have 3 dogs and a cat. Dr. Fritz enjoys surfing, fishing, clamming, biking, flying, handyman work, and serves as a local Councilman in Seaside Park.

Dr. Amy Slater McHugh graduated from UNC School of Pharmacy and spent 10 years in human medicine before shifting to veterinary pharmacy in 1999 at NC State. In 2006, she married Dr. Fritz and helped open their first office in Seaside Heights, later moving to Toms River. Passionate about animals, she considers her pets her children. She enjoys the beach, kayaking on Barnegat Bay, clamming, and UNC basketball. She and Dr. Fritz live with their dogs Ava, Victor, and Briar.

Kristin has been with us at Coastal Vet since April 2021. Since Kristin has been working with us, she has rescued her beagle, Tiller, from a bad situation in 2022 and can find him here every day working with her. In her free time, you will find her going to antique shops and zoos with her two daughters, Alexa and Rylee. She loves finding unique treasures while antiquing. Kristin is currently enrolled at Penn Foster to get her Veterinary Technician certification.

Stephanie has been working with us at Coastal since January 2023. She has always loved working and being around animals, as she has a husky named Klaus and two cats of her own, Blackie and Blair. Stephanie enjoys nature and collecting oddities, crystals, and indoor plants. You will find her traveling to NC and TX a couple times a year to visit her baby niece and nephew.

Coastal Veterinary has cared for Toms River's pets for decades. We're known for tailored treatment plans, caring service, and a close-knit team. Our values: clear communication, respect, and doing what's right for every patient and client.


Dr. Fritz started as a mobile veterinarian in 2003 and as his clientele grew he saw the need to open an office. At that time Amy, his wife and veterinary pharmacist, joined Coastal Veterinary and they opened a small office in Seaside Heights close to the Cranberry Inlet. This location served our practice well until Superstorm Sandy wrecked that office. Luckily, we were still growing and needed a larger space, so we were already in the process of renovating our current location in Toms River. We opened in Toms River days after Superstorm Sandy and quickly finished this office as we worked to continue serving our clients.  Our new location had more space and we continued to grow so we added more staff. We searched long and hard to find another veterinarian that would be a good match to our current practice and continue with the mindset of why we are so well liked in the community. We brought in Dr. Mindy Feldman in December 2017 and continued to grow so we have now brought in Dr. Dustin Pascal in January 2023.  We are still currently serving our Toms River and surrounding areas with our friendly family like veterinary team providing the best care to your pets as if they were our own.

Coastal Veterinary proudly serves the beach communities of Seaside Park, Seaside Heights, Ortley Beach, and Lavallette, all from our convenient Toms River location. Connect with us, and one of our team members will be happy to assist you.
